What Is New in the 2027 BMW X5?
The new X5, codenamed G65, replaces the G05 sold since 2018. According to BMW Group's official release, it premiered at BMW Plant Spartanburg in South Carolina, the X5's home factory. It brings the design and digital technology of BMW's Neue Klasse into the brand's best-known SUV.
The headline change is choice. For the first time the X5 comes with petrol, plug-in hybrid and fully electric powertrains under one name. The electric model is the iX5, and BMW has also confirmed an iX5 Hydrogen fuel-cell model, which it calls its first hydrogen production car, for later. BMW's North American release does not give exterior dimensions, so we have not quoted any.

The combustion and plug-in models use an eight-speed Steptronic Sport automatic. BMW quotes 0 to 60 mph in 5.1 seconds for the X5 40, 4.6 seconds for the 50e and 4.4 seconds for the iX5 60. The plug-in hybrid has a preliminary US electric range of 44 miles.
The iX5 60 uses a 144 kWh (net) battery. BMW quotes a preliminary US range of 435 miles, about 700 km. It charges at up to 460 kW DC, going from 10 to 80% in 22 minutes, and has 15.4 kW AC charging as standard. An M Performance version and the hydrogen model are due later in 2027. BMW has not released their specifications.
Technology and Safety
Inside, the X5 gets BMW Panoramic iDrive with Operating System X. That includes BMW Panoramic Vision, a display strip across the base of the windscreen, and a 3D head-up display. A 14.6-inch passenger screen is optional. BMW Digital Key Plus is included, along with an Intelligent Personal Assistant that, in the US, uses Amazon Alexa+.
Driver assistance runs on BMW Symbiotic Drive. In the US, Driving Assistant Plus is standard and a hands-free Highway Assistant is optional. Parking Assistant Plus uses AI, and Emergency Brake Assistant can now steer to avoid a collision. Which systems are approved for UAE roads, and on which trims, has not been announced. Ask the dealer before you assume a US feature will be on a GCC car.
2027 BMW X5 UAE Launch Timing
BMW sells cars in the UAE through AGMC (Dubai and the Northern Emirates) and Abu Dhabi Motors. Neither has announced a launch date for the new X5. The best regional guidance comes from Pitstop Arabia, which reports that deliveries should start in late 2026 for the first models, with the full line-up in early 2027. Production starts in October 2026 and BMW's first markets get the car in Q1 2027, so a UAE arrival between December 2026 and spring 2027 looks realistic. Treat that as an estimate until AGMC confirms it.

BMW has not announced UAE pricing for the new X5. Pitstop Arabia's "AED 300,000+" figure is not attributed to BMW, so we do not treat it as a price. GCC Specs and UAE Heat

The 48V mild-hybrid six-cylinder should behave much like today's xDrive40i in summer heat. The iX5 needs more care. Its 435-mile figure is a preliminary US estimate, and BMW has not published range at 45°C with the AC running. Expect less in a Dubai July. The 460 kW peak also depends on finding a charger that powerful. BMW has not said whether the hydrogen iX5 will come to the Gulf.

On today's prices the X5 is the cheapest way into this group. The Porsche Cayenne starts about AED 20,000 higher, and the Range Rover Sport costs more again. The new X5 raises entry power from 340 bhp to 394 hp and adds the electric iX5 under the same nameplate. Porsche sells its EV as the separate Cayenne Electric.
