Engine & Performance

The 2024 Jeep Wrangler offers a choice of five powertrains. The base engine is a 285-hp 3.6-liter V-6, which can be paired with either a six-speed manual gearbox or an eight-speed automatic transmission. An optional turbocharged four-cylinder engine is available, which works with an electric motor to provide extra low-end power. However, this powertrain is only available with the eight-speed automatic transmission. The Wrangler is available with a standard V-6, optional four-cylinder hybrid, 3.6-liter V-6 with hybrid assist, 375-hp plug-in hybrid 4xe powertrain, or a 6.4-liter V-8. The Wrangler provides sufficient space for groceries and gear, but note that its rear seats do not fold flush with the floor. Choosing the classic two-door Wrangler over the larger Unlimited four-door model comes with a significant cargo-hauling trade-off. If you’re adventuring with friends, you’ll need to pack light as only two carry-on cases can fit behind the two-door’s back seat, compared to 10 for the four-door.
