The two trims and the AED 10,000 question
Both trims share the same engine, the same 13-inch HD "Waterfall" touchscreen, the same Advanced Comfort seats, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, wireless phone charging, keyless entry and start, autonomous emergency braking, lane keep assist, extended traffic sign recognition and cruise control.
For AED 10,000 more, the PLUS adds adaptive cruise control with stop and go, and additional parking assistance.
That is a thinner upgrade than most launch trim walks, and it makes the decision unusually simple. If your driving is school run, Dubai Marina and the occasional Abu Dhabi trip, stop-and-go adaptive cruise is the single most useful feature on a UAE commute. E11 traffic is exactly the scenario it was built for, and AED 10,000 is a fair price for it. Two things stand out. The first is that 240 Nm from a 1.6-litre turbo in a 4,652 mm SUV is adequate rather than generous: 9.9 seconds to 100 km/h is mid-pack for the segment, and a loaded car with the air conditioning at full tilt in August will feel every bit of that. The second is the gearbox. A six-speed automatic in 2026 is a generation behind the eight-speed units in several rivals, which costs a little refinement at motorway cruise. The C5 Aircross is 4,652 mm long on a 2,784 mm wheelbase, seats five, and swallows up to 1,985 litres with the rear seats folded. The wheelbase is the number that matters for families. It is longer than several direct rivals, and that shows up as rear legroom rather than boot space.
Citroen's two signature items are the Advanced Comfort seats and the Progressive Hydraulic Cushions suspension, which adds hydraulic stops at each end of the damper travel to take the edge off sharp inputs. On European B-roads this is a real advantage. In the UAE, where the road surface is generally excellent, the payoff is narrower. You will notice it on speed bumps in older Sharjah and Deira neighbourhoods and on unsealed compound approaches, and barely at all on Sheikh Zayed Road. Buy it because the seats are genuinely comfortable on a four-hour run to Fujairah, not because you expect the suspension to transform the car.
