2025 Toyota Tundra

2025 Toyota Tundra: The Toyota Tundra is a bit of a different kettle of fish when it comes to the full-size truck segment, in comparison to its American rivals. The old V-8 is out, and we’re excited to say that it’s been replaced by a twin-turbo V-6! This impressive engine is available in two states of tune, including a hybrid version that we’ll cover separately. Toyota has two different four-door cabs to choose from – medium and large, essentially – and they’re all wrapped in chiselled sheet metal. The Tundra seems to be happy with more moderate towing and hauling ratings, which is great news for light-duty truck buyers! The Tundra is a great all-rounder, with a coil-spring rear suspension that makes it nice and civilised, and a whole range of off-road trims and packages that give you plenty of capability when you want to leave the pavement. The Tundra’s latest cabin is a big step up from before, especially in the swanky upper trims. It’s still not quite up to the standards set by Ram and Ford, but it’s a great improvement!

I’m sorry to have to tell you this, but… We’re really sorry to have to tell you that Toyota has discontinued the Tundra’s TRD Sport package, which was the rear-wheel-drive version of the TRD Off-Road. Sadly, the gorgeous Solar Octane paint job isn’t making a comeback for 2025. But don’t fret! There’s a new TRD Rally appearance package, and the SR5 now comes with standard eight-way power-adjustable front seats. We’ve got some great news for you! The power tailgate is now available on the SR5 and standard on every trim above. Plus, you’ll be able to enjoy massaging front seats in the Platinum and Capstone models. And there’s more! The 1794 Edition gets its own unique embossed tailgate.

2025 Toyota Tundra Engine & Performance

The Tundra is a great choice for you because it offers three fantastic powertrains, all of which are based on a twin-turbocharged 3.4-litre V-6. In the base SR model, the engine is tuned for 348 horsepower and 405 pound-feet of torque, which is pretty impressive! Otherwise, it makes 389 horses and 479 pound-feet. And there’s another option too! It’s a 473-horsepower hybrid, which we’ll be looking at in more detail in a separate review. All of these fantastic vehicles use a smooth-shifting 10-speed automatic transmission. If you opt for four-wheel drive, you’ll get a part-time setup. Unfortunately, there’s no full-time system like those offered in rival trucks. The Tundra has a coil-spring rear suspension, just like the Ram 1500, which makes for a really smooth ride on your daily commute. Buy Toyota SUV

The Tundra can tow a maximum of 12,000 pounds, which is pretty impressive! While it’s definitely enough for most people’s needs, that rating makes it the least capable truck in the half-ton class. The Ford F-150 is the clear leader with an impressive 14,000-pound rating, followed closely by the Chevrolet Silverado at 13,300 and the Ram 1500 at 12,750. The Toyota’s max payload is 1,940 pounds, which is quite a bit behind Ford’s 3,250-pound rating.

2025 Toyota Tundra Interior & Connectivity

The current Tundra is a big step up in terms of material quality and design compared to the previous generation, but it doesn’t bring anything particularly new or revolutionary to the full-size truck segment. The base interior could do with a bit of a pick-me-up! Some of the hard plastics could be replaced with something a bit more welcoming. As you move up the trim hierarchy, you’ll find lots of lovely upgrades, including material and feature upgrades. The top-of-the-line Capstone has semi-aniline leather upholstery, American walnut interior trim, acoustically laminated side windows, and a head-up display. The dashboard design is chunky yet looks really purposeful, and a wide centre console houses the shift lever along with plenty of storage. The good news is that all models come with analogue gauges and a small driver-information display as standard. But if you’re looking for something a bit more high-tech, the top trim levels have a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster. The extended cab (also known as a Double Cab) is available with either a 6.5- or 8.1-foot bed, while the longer crew cab (also known as a CrewMax) is offered with a 5.5- or 6.5-foot box. If you’re looking for a little more space in the front seats, the shorter cab is a great choice. Just keep in mind that the rear seats will be a bit more snug, with 33.3 inches of legroom compared to 41.6 in the crew cab.

The SR and SR5 Tundras come with a lovely 8.0-inch infotainment touchscreen, but if you’d prefer a bigger one, you can get a 14-inch screen on the SR5 and it’s standard on the rest of the lineup! The larger display is easy on the eyes with clear graphics and sits proudly in the centre of the dash. It’s accompanied by a volume knob but lacks a tuning dial, and the controls on the steering wheel are a little limited in functionality. The audio systems are pretty impressive, too! You’ve got a base six-speaker (in the extended cab) or nine-speaker (in the crew cab) setup, as well as a 12-speaker JBL premium audio system that’s standard on the Limited and above. We’re happy to say that wireless charging is standard on the Platinum and above! We’ve made it really easy for you to stay connected on the road with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, which come as standard. And if you want to share your internet with others, you can get a subscription-based Wi-Fi hotspot.
