2025 Toyota Camry Engine & Performance

The 2025 Camry Hybrid comes with two hybrid powertrains: one for the front wheels and one for all four. The front-wheel-drive models get a 2.5-litre four-cylinder engine and two electric motors, which together produce 225 horsepower. The all-wheel-drive models add a third motor that drives the rear axle, increasing the combined output to 232 horsepower. Both setups come with a continuously variable automatic transmission as standard. These powertrains are pretty similar to what you’ll find in the Toyota Prius, but with a 2.5-litre gas engine instead of the Prius’ 2.0-litre four. In our first test drive, we found the hybrid setup to be really responsive around town thanks to the strong shove from the electric motors. But none of the 2025 Camry models will be as quick as the old V-6 version, which we’ll miss. The SE and XSE versions have suspension tuning that makes them feel more sporty, and we noticed that the XSE test car had tighter body control in the corners. However, we’re not fans of the steering, which lacks feel.

All models come with a digitised gauge display, but only the top two trims get the larger 12.3-inch fully digital version.
